Single Mode Fibre Optic Infrastructure Upgrade Installation
We have worked with South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust now for 12 years as the nominated Call off Framework contractor for the installation of network and telephony cabling.
We have recently completed works at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, for the installation of a complete fibre upgrade from a multi-mode fibre optic solution to a single-mode fibre solution. This involved installing approximately 16km of new single mode fibre optic cable, installed between all Trust communications cabinets (over 100 existing comms cabinet locations in total on this site) terminated and presented in new LC fibre trays.
The new single mode fibre optic solution is to provide links to new network switches which will be utilised to service a new wireless solution and also to enable the provision of IP telephony which is to be installed throughout the hospital in the very near future.
The project was quite demanding as we were working to tight timescales and working alongside live networks.
We worked closely with the Trusts on-site IT department to ensure any disruption was kept to a minimum and to ensure that the transfer from the multi-mode solution to the new single mode solution was completed with very little down time.
